The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is in search of an hourly Laboratory Specialist to support the research in the laboratory of Dr. Gregory Buck.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Purify DNA and RNA from various sample types
- Perform QA/Qc on RNA/DNA sample
- Perform Real Time PCR to assess the presence of viral sequences
- Work independently and with other team members to perform microbiology-oriented basic and translational research
- Experience with RNA and DNA purification, QA/QC and Real Time PCR
- Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as an hourly employee at VCU
- Ability to perform repetitive protocols reliably
This is a restricted position with no set end date and continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
Salary Range: $20/hr
